(Traveling to Vietnam) Cham Island, which is known locally as Cu Lao Cham, is a group of eight islets in Quang Nam province, Vietnam. The island forms a part of the Cu Lao Cham Marine Park – a World Biosphere Reserve recognized by UNESCO.
Cham Island has 3,000 inhabitants. Most of them make a living by fishing. The island is rich in aquatic resources, with 165 hectares of coral and 500 hectares of sea weeds. The waters around Cu Lao Cham is home to 135 species of coral, 4 species of lobster and 84 species of mollusk, many of which are listed in Vietnam’s and the world’s Red Book of endangered species. One of the islets is home to salanganes - the bird whose nests are nutritious and expensive.
Tourists will enjoy the fresh atmosphere of the sea with clean white sand, cool water and enter into the daily activities in warm welcome of the residents in fishing village to see the beautiful scenic spots: Huong beach, Lang beach, Anchorage site and Hai Tang pagoda. There are many other interesting attractions for visitors, including fresh seafood, traditional crafts, swimming and sightseeing.
